Naïka Champaïgne is a Haitian, Queer multi-instrumentalist and multidisciplinary artist (model, actor and professional trainer) born and raised in Montreal (Tio’tia:ke). She blends the sounds of Neo-soul, Funk, Folk, Blues, Rock and Hip-Hop in her compositions and songwriting.

Naïka Champaïgne began her musical journey by attending the Joseph-François Perrault musical high school in Montreal, where she received classical training in clarinet and saxophone. Her passion for music intensified when she began composing original songs within the walls of this school. Soon after, she formed a band called Strange Froots with her bandmate Mags, where they create a musical genre they call ”Alternative chill-soul”.

Her sonic universe spans from Progressive rock, Funk, Folk, Neo-soul, Jazz, Blues, R&B and Hip-Hop. Everything is then wrapped in stories and images that led to her first solo album, “Painted Imageries.” Music has always been a way for her to share, learn, live and exist fully. Her second album, ”Purple N Blue” is a more refined continuation, further blending the ambient and rhythmic sounds of ”Painted Imageries”.

”Purple N Blue” encompasses all the stages of grief. Showcasing it not in a black and white manner, but in a complex form; denial, anger, acceptance, mourning, love, coming back home, grounding, ease and rising. As a Prince fan, this is an ode to Purple Rain; when the sky bleeds, it rains purple.

”Purple N Blue” breathes this: Water/rain also washes things away, cleansing things and ”Purple N Blue” represents this; the ups and down, the many different ways of hurting and healing. It is her journey with these and the album can travel with the listeners for their own journeys.
